Life is sad enough you know? Like, everyone experiences death at some point and it's horrible. I'm just someone who watches shows like this to escape reality. Yeah, you could argue that! Thats an optimistic way to look at it lol, and I'm sure the writers will appreciate this POV when defending their decision hahaha. Now they have the rest of the season to possibly keep fans intrigued on new storylines, keep us focused on whats coming instead of the death of a character. I feel the writers made the best choice here no use dragging fans through episode after episode of his death. Some of the stuff you said on your podcasts and video interviews is just really far out there and not at all real life. Graham, I hope you "come back to earth" before you mess up your life. I think he got caught up in his "spiritual stuff" and started believing it. We all go through times where work is a drag.

This was a good job, and he probably could have stayed as long as the show ran, if he buckled down and put his back into it even if at times he no longer enjoyed it. I don't know his thoughts or the conditions that made him want to leave, but he is going to have a hard time finding work, especially in todays economy. I think Graham Wardle is making a very big mistake. She is the essence of Heartland so I think it will go on - just for this season. I think Amber Marshall deserves credit - because I thought she did a great job in this episode. I don't know if his feelings for COVID-19 had anything to do with it either. I have listened to some of Graham's podcast and to be honest it comes off as "holier than thou" and "I have a deeper spiritual understanding". Perhaps the show should have known to end - the Ty always being gone story lines were annoying. I definitely have frustrations toward Graham. Going back to the same old story lines may be a bit of a stretch. The hard part is I don't know where they go from here. After 2020 and waiting a year for Heartland - I don't think anybody wanted this news. So - I definitely understand someone not feeling the same way. The biggest deaths were Jack's friend(stumpy?) and Paint.

I think most people enjoyed Heartland because it was a comfort - a place where aside from the first 5 minutes of the show - nothing traumatic happened. The episode quite plainly makes you go through the 5 stages of grief. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. The numbness and disbelief I felt watching the episode reminded of the feelings I had when my brother in laws passed. The conversation they had in the episodes were almost verbatim the conversations I had with my sisters. Two of my young sisters(both under 30) have become widows in the last few years with kids. The main reason I liked it because that a young husband dying is a real thing to me.

Aside from the mom passing away at the beginning of the series - nothing traumatic happened. I didn't expect 30 seconds into the season to have the most traumatic thing that has happened in the series. I haven't seen anybody else say this here - but I liked season 14 episode 1.
